Beyond Delhi and Mumbai: Discovering India’s Diverse Cities, Businesses, and People.

Mumbai vs Delhi. Which is better?

Why do we behave like we are the only two cities worth talking about in India? Last week I went for an offsite to the South of India, for an ASCENT Blind Date with 20 dynamic growth-ready entrepreneurs. I was invited as a speaker to talk to them about marketing, and boy, what a great time I had!

No showing off, no flexing, no snobbish attitudes, no brands being flaunted. Just humble, authentic people. How refreshing.

Their businesses. Diverse, big, future ready, innovative and invest worthy. And yet down to earth. One guy had got a million dollar funding from Tamil Nadu government and he was the quietest among the lot.

And they all were enthusiastic learners, Open, Curious, Attentive, & Involved.

You can’t miss their level of event planning.

We had a power packed 48 hours. Talks, sharing, nature walks, personal stories and so much more.

Food. My God, the variety, the flavours, and the love in every bite.

Conversations were meaningful, thought provoking and well researched. No small talk. No complaining.

The connections I built were warm, friendly, and made me want more and more.

I felt like Royalty. Everything was taken care of.

They were appreciative of every word I said and every slide I presented and the questions were the toughest I faced post a session, but with humble smiles and eagerness to learn, rather than show you down.

Trust me, my perspective changed.

So let’s stop bickering about 2 cities. India is more and is growing at a faster pace than we can imagine.

I have family in Ahmedabad and they are a super fun lot, I have friends in Bangalore and Hyderabad and they live better lives than we do. I have clients across India and their businesses are growing very fast and going global.

There’s a lot to learn from these cities, and towns.

And to be blatantly honest, the world is more than Delhi Mumbai brands, fashion, style, bling, cars, Mumbai spirit and other stuff.

Here’s a picture of the ASCENT South India Cohort. The quickest family I made in 24 hours.

Lots and lots of love to them. I am humbled.
